Bobby J. Hopewell, BA, MA, EMT-P
President/ CEO
Mr. Hopewell, a Michigan native brings 29 years of extensive healthcare, leadership and public service experience to MHR. He has a passion for serving and service delivery, especially as it relates to ensuring a positive impact for those being served. Mr. Hopewell was previously the Administrative Director of Borgess Health Park in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he was responsible for the activation and occupancy of the $26.9 million; 65,000 square foot ambulatory care facility. In previous roles, Mr. Hopewell served as Director of Hospitality Services for Borgess Health, Manager of Community Relations and the Referral and Information Center for Bronson Healthcare. Each position provided him the opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to driving patient centered healthcare delivery.
Previous to his hospital work, Mr. Hopewell served a combined ten years in Emergency Medical Services leadership in West Michigan with Life EMS Ambulance, LifeCare Ambulance Service and Gull Lake Area Ambulance. In the early 1990’s Mr. Hopewell successfully led his team at Life EMS Ambulance through the inaugural Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services accreditation surveys. This achievement makes him one of the first EMS leaders in the nation to lead an accredited EMS organization. Later he went on to become a CAAS surveyor.
Mr. Hopewell received his Master of Arts in Organizational Learning and Performance from Western Michigan University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Service/EMS Administration from Siena Heights University. He also earned his Associates Degree in Health Technologies from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Additionally, Mr. Hopewell is a Michigan Licensed Paramedic, and is presently in his tenth year as the fifty-eighth Mayor of the City of Kalamazoo.
Robert N. Farrell, MA, EMT-P, I/C
Director of Customer Experience
Mr. Farrell brings over 20 years of emergency medical services experience to MHR, including serving as a paramedic, firefighter, EMS systems administrator and instructional faculty in emergency medical education. He has held many leadership positions, most recently serving as the National Disaster Life Support Coordinator for the State of Michigan and the State of Michigan Operations Coordinator for Team Rubicon. Mr. Farrell received his Master of Arts from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI and a Bachelor of Arts from Hope College in Holland, MI.
Lyn Berghuis, BS
Experience Improvement Specialist
Ms. Berghuis has more than 15 years of healthcare experience working in a variety of leadership capacities. These include spearheading major patient experience improvement initiatives, creating and conducting new hire customer service training, managing complex service recovery situations, and co-facilitating Lean exercises such as value stream mapping. She has extraordinary command of data analytics, performance improvement initiatives and goal setting.
Ms. Berghuis has worked with leading healthcare organizations such as BayCare Health System (Tampa), Froedtert Health (Wisconsin), Georgia Health System (Georgia), MemorialCare (California), Poudre Valley Health (Colorado), St. Joseph Health System (Texas) and Mayo Health Clinic (Minnesota).
She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in Hospitality Management and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fort Lauderdale College. She obtained her Lean Healthcare Certification from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering. Ms. Berhuis is presently pursuing a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Training Design and Delivery at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.
Jordan Rohde, MSHA
Data Manager
Mr. Rohde has 8 years of quality improvement experience working with quality driven organizations.His experiences focus on facilitating lean/six-sigma, business development, improving workflows, data analytics, and database management. Mr. Rohde has worked with the world leading polysilicon manufacturer Hemlock Semiconductor, and Central Michigan Rehabilitation Clinic where he specialized in quality improvement and business development. Mr. Rohde received his Masters of Health Administration and Bachelors of Science specializing in Biomedical Sciences from Central Michigan University.
Luke Reynolds
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Reynolds has 10 years IT management experience with a focus on data management, systems management and internal IT engineering. Reynolds brings a unique view looking for IT opportunities to improve workflows and business operations. Mr. Reynolds is currently a part of Newmind Group, an INC 500 company, and the fastest growing technology company in Michigan.
Jake Betzold, BS, MBA
Application Design Leader
Mr. Betzold has led successful application development projects for Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, Franklin Covey and many others. He brings an eye for detail and an ability to convert strategic plans and customer stories into actionable development plans and management strategies t our partner development agency.
Prior to working with Maestro and MHR, Mr. Betzold was a senior design engineer and project manager for Stryker Instruments, where he helped design Neuro-Spine products and managed design documentation for industry and FDA compliance.
Mr. Betzold Received his B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering from Michigan Technical University and his MBA in Management from Western Michigan University.
